my
yoga story
I was a restless professional living in London, working hard and playing even harder. I was ticking all the correct boxes of what I was 'supposed' to do to achieve a happy life. But these were mere distractions.
As unhealthy habits slowly developed, I felt empty. I did not know what I was supposed to be doing with my life. I was 27 years old.
A friend suggested yoga, but I was skeptical. Yoga shmoga I thought. I was already physically fit and had no interest in being bendy, learning meditation or anything yogic for that matter.
However, attending my first class was Revelationary. I realized that the yogic movements required mental strength which required slow focussed breathing.
During the final relaxation I experienced a peace that I never knew existed.
As I left the yoga centre and lit up my cigarette I thought, damn that was great! I knew then that I was hooked.
As my practice deepened, my physical body transformed—becoming more lean, toned, i used muscles I didn't know existed. I became mentally strong, and my heart opened.
More importantly, I discovered the power of the breath and the ability to quiet negative thoughts. I learned to listen to my body, embrace stillness, and cultivate deep self-respect.
Eventually, I walked away from a career in the city of London, to teach the practice that made me understand who I really am.
Yoga isn't about flexibility of the body...it is about Flexibility of the mind to undo the restrictive programming we have been subjected to.
Yoga is a lifestyle that gives you the ability to discover the magic of you.
Today, I share all I have learned and experienced with those who want to know the truth about life, Question everything. what we are? why we are here? and how we are really supposed to do this life thing?
Yoga shows the way.
This is my story, and this is yoga.
